Hello to the beginning of summer! To enjoy Portland’s best season, all you have to do is, yep, go outside on sunny days! ☀️
But here are some more tips for living life to the fullest in Portland this month:
🍓 Chow Down on the Best Strawberries
It's time for a farmers market run. Strawberries are here already, but the season's just beginning. Don't miss the Hoods. But there are plenty of other local varieties to explore. Some farmers markets are just opening this week, including:
🚲 Get On Your Bike
It’s a great time to go out on your bike. All summer there’s one long bike-riding party: Pedalpalooza. Choose a ride to fit your interests, including Sunday’s Sing-a-long Ride (with karaoke stops and singing as you pedal), Oh Whale! A Hump Day Ride (dress like a whale on Wednesday), and next Thursday’s Ride Bikes Practice Yoga!
🧦 Celebrate Your Dad
You could throw Dad a barbecue – but maybe you want to treat him to one of Portland's best burgers. The Oregonian has a new list of the best five burgers around — or consult Eater Portland’s running guide for more options. (I know I want to try them.)
If you, like me, have a dad who’s spent a lot of time not eating meat, well, this town has so many tasty vegan and vegetarian options too.
🛶 Get Out on the Water
It’s time for a trip on the river. Go kayaking, paddle boarding, or sailing. For that last option, City Cast Portland host Claudia Meza recommends sailing lessons from Oregon Women's Sailing Association (if applicable) or the Portland Sailing Center.
