July is the perfect time to get outside. There’s so much to do in town — but also it’s a good time to get away for a weekend trip or a day hike.
Here are some tips for enjoying the month to the fullest:
🏕️ Last-Minute Campsite Reservations
If you want to go camping, but didn’t reserve a campsite early, check out the Facebook group called “PNW camping reservations re-listings.” People who planned ahead but now can’t use their reservations offer up their spots — unusually at cost. Tip: Reservations go fast once they’re posted, so monitor the group closely if you’re looking for a spot. (Thanks to senior executive producer John Notarianni for this suggestion.)
🎵 Outdoor Festivals, Movies, and More
The calendar this month is full of festivals and celebrations, including:
- 🎷 Waterfront Blue Festival | July 4 - 5
- 🎶 Cathedral Park Jazz Festival | July 18 - 20
- 🏳️🌈 Portland Pride Waterfront Festival | July 19 -20
- 🎵 Project Pabst | July 26 - 27
🌳 But there’s no shortage of free concerts and movies in city parks. Pioneer Courthouse Square also hosts a free Noon Tunes series.
Plus, you could join a Bike Summer ride 🚲 — or go star gazing ⭐
🚣 Paddle to a Floating Restaurant
The Deck is your chance to arrive by kayak (or boat) for dinner or drinks. It’s only open from May to September, so now’s the time. Tip: Dogs are welcome! (Thanks to podcast host Claudia Meza for that suggestion.)
