The weather is warmer. The sun is out. It’s time to make the best of your Portland summer.
Here are some suggestions for what to do this month:
🎟️ Events to Check Out
With the rain gone, here are some ways to get out on the town:
🌹 Portland Rose Festival | all month
It’s a classic Portland event with parades and a fair. There’s something for everyone.
🐉 Dragon Boat Races | June 7 - 8
It’s a little late to get a team together, but you can come watch the races this year. It’s a spectacle on the Willamette.
🛼 Rose City Rollers Championship | June 7
The hometown roller derby teams compete for the championship.
🎸 HOMIE FEST VI | June 27 - 28
A beloved local music festival that last happened in 2018 is back this year!
🚲 Northeast Cully Sunday Parkways | June 29
It’s your chance to bike, walk, or scoot along streets closed down for cars. June’s event is in Cully. We’ll be there, too!

☀️ Tips for New Ways to Get Outside
There are tons of ways to enjoy the outdoors during summer. Here are a couple of options:
Oregon has bountiful rivers and lakes. To get started, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is hosting one of its free fishing weekends (no license required) on the weekend of June 7 - 8.
Yes, there is bus service to the coast. And there’s even expanded options now that Memorial Day is passed. Check out the Point bus for trips to Astoria and the NW Connector for a whole bunch of options. (I’m planning a few days at the beach this month, and will be taking the bus for my ride home.)
