Don't miss the corn maze at The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island — or their large variety of pumpkins. (The Pumpkin Patch)

Fall may be the best (and most underrated) season in the Pacific Northwest. Cooler temps, vibrant colors, and the return of pumpkin everything! Every October, Portlanders begin their seasonal quest for the perfect pumpkin. The metro region boasts more than 25 farms ready to welcome visitors, so the challenge isn't finding options — it's about selecting which experience suits your family best.

There’s free admission to the pumpkin patch unless otherwise mentioned. (Corn mazes may have separate ticket prices.)

🎃 Sauvie Island

🕐 Daily 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. through October

It’s one of the better-known pumpkin patches around Portland, with an impressive corn maze and a vibrant selection of pumpkins. Visitors can explore 25 acres of U-pick pumpkins (accessible by foot or a $2 wagon ride), navigate this year′s "Cornlandia" maze design, and visit the historic 1929 barn housing farm animals.

🕐 Daily 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. (corn maze open until 10 p.m. most Fridays and Saturdays)

It’s a certified organic operation with a corn maze beginning in August. Come October, complimentary wagon rides ferry visitors to pumpkin fields, while evenings transform into haunted experiences on select Friday and Saturday nights ($30−$45).

🕐 Tuesday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.; weekends (plus Friday, Oct. 10), 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

They manage crowds through timed-entry ticketing on weekends, with a redesigned corn maze each year and rotating sunflower fields. This farm has an admission price: $12.50 in advance, $15 at the gates includes nearly all activities.

🎃 Portland

🕐 Wednesday - Sunday, 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

After two and a half decades of operation, this 65-acre property cultivates dozens of gourd varieties from heritage seeds. The signature attraction launches pumpkins hundreds of feet via cannon toward valley targets. Local artisans constructed the whimsical hobbit house playground by hand. Admission is $16 online, $18 at the gate, and $31 for a season pass.

🕐 Monday - Friday, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.; weekends, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Proximity to Portland International Airport (just 3 miles) makes this an accessible option for time-pressed families. Each year brings a new aviation-inspired corn maze design honoring the location. Plus, they have goats!
