It’s time for some tasty news:
8 New Noteworthy Restaurants
This list of fall restaurant openings from Michael Russell at the Oregonian has some notable and tasty options. Restaurants singled out for attention include Los Burros Supremos, The Paper Bridge, Grana, Don’s Favorite Foods, and Bellpine. The spots I’ve been to on this list make me curious about the rest. Oysters, Shucked and Tasty
Where can you find the most delicious oysters? Eater Portland has put together a list. Included are some predictable picks like Eat: An Oyster Bar or the excellent seafood restaurant Jacqueline. But also on the list are the Thai restaurant Phuket Cafe, the food truck Tidal Boar Foods (known as The Shuck Truck), and Cabezon Restaurant, which is often overlooked. There are many more options. Best 'Top Chef' Recipes of All Time
Before he opened the hottest restaurant in town, Kann chef Gregory Gourdet made an impression on “Top Chef.” Judges Padma Lakshmi and Gail Simmons this week picked his recipe for red mole with short ribs and agave sweet potato as one of the top dishes ever prepared on the show. Hat tip to @garythefoodie for this story. [Food and Wine]
- Related: “Food and Wine” has a half dozen of Gourdet’s recipes available if you want to try bringing his tasty food home. (Gourdet also has a cookbook.)
Plus: I can’t dispute this wisdom from a favorite spot of mine. “Ice cream will bring you instant happiness.”
