Portland has some new spots to try and some interesting openings ahead:
Open: Vegan (AKA “Not Traditional”) Italian
A vegan Italian restaurant Il Paffuto opened Tuesday in the space formerly occupied by Fermenter, under the same management. Fermenter closed in March, but there are still plenty of fermented items on the new menu. [Bridgetown Bites]
Open: Take Two
A cocktail bar from the team behind Gabbiano’s has opened. Take Two has a catchy name, and pony dogs, a Hebrew National dressed up with Bolognese sauce. [@garythefoodie]
Pop-Up: Javelina
Javelina is a pop-up restaurant that serves fine dining renditions of indigenous comfort foods. It’s been hosting dinners since November. Dishes have included frybread tacos and Sonoran hotdogs, three sisters baked potatoes, and wild rabbit leg. Javelina has events this coming week and beyond across town. [Underscore]
Opening Soon: Flock Hall
Pan Roast (the eponymous dish is shellfish prepared in “creamy, tomato and clam-based broth”) will be among the restaurant offerings at Flock, the highly anticipated food hall in the Ritz-Carlton. Chef Ryan Moy, who also owns the sushi burrito chain Rollin’ Fresh, expects the hall (and Pan Roast) to open in late May. [Eater Portland]
Reopening Soon: Bark City BBQ
Bark City BBQ, once considered some of Portland’s best barbecue, closed in 2022 when the food cart’s owner Michael Keskin moved to Flagstaff, but now he’s back. The barbecue returns next month. [Eater Portland]
Plus: If you’re looking for Passover food, here are some options for anyone celebrating this coming week. [Eater Portland]
Correction: A previous version of this post misstated chef Ryan Moy's first name.
