I Like My Pizza Wallet Shaped
Okay, it’s technically called portafoglio-style, but that’s not as fun. The Oregonian reporter Michael Russell reports that Grana Pizza Napoletana, a new Neapolitan-style pizzeria is coming to Portland later this year and apparently we have travel show host Rick Steves to thank. [Oregonian]
Food For Good
Local restaurant owners are hosting fundraisers to support the victims of the wildfires in Maui, which destroyed the town of Lahaina last week. Here are some of the participating businesses that you can support this weekend:
- HanOak PDX (Sunday): Wine-tasting fundraisers hosted by Oregon AAPI Food and Wine founder Lois Cho and Hundred Suns Wines cofounder Renee Saint-Amour. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Hawaii Community Foundation. “My mother was raised on Hawaii’s Big Island, and her mother was one of 13 children, so some of her siblings settled on Maui,” said Saint-Amour.
- Bamboo Grove Hawaiian Grille (Saturday): “Live Hawaiian music and local DJs will be serenading you all afternoon and evening. Fusion Shave ice company, Alyssa’s famous Japanese Hot Dogs and freshly fried poi mochi donuts will dance in your opu … Mahalo nui for your Kokua 🤙🏽.”
- Ohana Hawaiian Cafe (Through Sunday): “Following the meaning of Ohana, we would like to do what little we can to help.” A portion of the proceeds from both Portland locations will be donated to Maui relief efforts.
- The Alibi Tiki Lounge (Today): All proceeds will be donated to the Maui Strong Fund.
