Southeast Clinton Street is often paired with Southeast Division Street — it’s just a short skip over.

But the stretch of Clinton from New Seasons (on Southeast 19th) to just above the Clinton Street Theater (at 26th) has its own character, and it’s distinct from most of the city’s other commercial strips, in that it lies along a neighborhood greenway with plenty of bike traffic.

And it’s worth a visit in its own right — for some of the city’s best restaurants and more:

Where To Eat and Drink

It's got a wide variety of options:

Open till 2:15 a.m., the neighborhood joint has pool and pinball as well as cheap drinks.

🍻 Dots

It’s an ‘Old Portland’ dive bar, with cheap beer on tap and diner food. And in a town that goes to bed early, it’s also open late — till 2 a.m.

The local chain serves up its tasty ice cream, with some nondairy and gluten-free options as well.

The fish-focused fine dining spot serves some of the city’s best food. It’s also well known for its $1 oysters during happy hour. (Tip: Make a reservation or show up early to get in during happy hour.)

The restaurant has made a splash with high-end Filipino cuisine. (It was the Oregonian’s restaurant of the year in 2021, when it opened.)

It’s a good spot for fresh sushi. Plus, it’s got ramen and grilled options for anyone avoiding raw fish.

Bonus: There are also a couple of new restaurants that just opened last month: Fair Weather, which is a brunch spot from the same owners as Jacqueline, and 82 Acres, which is a fine-dining restaurant that collaborates closely with Abbey Road Farm in Carlton.

Plus, Record-Shopping, a Sauna, or a Movie

You could spend all your time on food and drink, but here are some more reasons to stop on Southeast Clinton Street:

It’s one of Portland’s prized independent movie theaters — and one the oldest in the country, after 100 years of continuous operations.

You can look through rare records. Or maybe you’re in the market for new headphones, turntables, speakers, or more.

♨️ Loyly

You’ll feel the relaxation from the moment you walk in the door to this spa. You can book time in their saunas as well as treat yourself to a massage.

What did I miss? Where do you enjoy going on Southeast Clinton Street?
